I realise that I'm getting lazier and lazier at this blogging thing. School's just started for like.. 6 weeks and my blog's dying. totally. haha.

Anyway, today's been quite a day. mmm, remembered what Francis said at wednesday's CG. It's something along the lines of "Is your rights worth fighting for as opposed to the relationship that is at stake?" Often times, I find myself caught in such a situation, and it is in times like this when we really have to "die to ourselves". I don't deny that it is a constant struggle, but I pray that God will give me the strength to see me through such times, and that I won't buckle under pressure of the world but instead I'll stand up and be that salt and light. And at such times, it really helps when like-minded friends encourage and "prop you up" along the way.

Today at CG we did Acts 3, the story about Peter and John saying "Gold and silver I do not have, but I give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk!" to the lame beggar (no he wasn't lame by virtue of his jokes..) and later on Peter rebuking the onlookers. I thought the second part of the story was very thought provoking, even though when I read through it the first time round it seemed like Peter was talking in circles. Later it seems to me that the onlookers actually resemble the pharisees that Jesus rebuked, people who knew the law and chose to do nothing about it. Doesn't it sound all too familiar? It does for me.. housework. I know mum gets irked when I don't help do all the housework, but sometimes laziness just overwhelms me and I choose my fleshly desire - to be lazy. And the consequence is as predicted: a whole lot of nagging and scolding. In a way, we only have ourselves to blame, since we hear but do not do. And come to think of it, isn't the gift of salvation almost the same? Some hear and receive, they are saved, like those who hear the word and do it. However, there are also those who hear and yet choose not to believe, not to do anything about it. They are so comfortable in their own little world that even though some know that salvation is through Jesus Christ, they are just too self-absorbed and remain as "onlookers". What a pity, what a shame, what a waste.

Sometimes all it takes is a little effort on our side.
